A longtime habit finally paid off for a construction worker from Quezon City who bagged the jackpot in the Grand Lotto 6/55 draw on Nov. 5.

After placing bets for 20 years, the 55-year-old father of two who separated from his wife years ago finally picked the winning numbers to win P66.9 million.

The sole winner said he had been betting on the lotto since 1996. He picked the right number combination of 07-16-02-23-36-30 at random.

When he claimed his prize at the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office on Monday, the winner was almost speechless and still in disbelief at his sudden turn of luck.

He told PCSO general manager Alexander Balutan that he would put up a business with some of the money, save part of it for his children’s future and deposit the rest in a bank.
