Vice President Leni Robredo, who staunchly opposes the burial of late dictator Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNMB), on Monday urged the public not to get ahead of the Supreme Court that will vote Tuesday on  petitions pleading to the justices to stop the Duterte administration from burying Marcos at the cemetery reserved for the country’s heroes.

At a press conference, Robredo expressed belief that what is right would triumph in the end.

Robredo addressed rumors that the SC vote on the Marcos burial would supposedly be closely tied with how the justices, sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), would vote on the electoral protest filed against her by the dictator’s son, former Senator Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.

“I have always been vocal about my opposition to the burial… (and) with the burial and the election case, I am trying to be optimistic. Let us not get ahead of the Supreme Court. I believe that in the end, what is right will always prevail,” Robredo said.

Robredo won the vice presidency over Marcos by a slim margin, prompting the former senator to accuse Robredo and the Liberal Party of rigging the elections.

The Manila prosecutor’s office recently dismissed a complaint filed by Marcos’ camp that Smartmatic and the Commission on Elections (Comelec) violated the anti-cybercrime law.

The prosecutor’s office said that the change in the hash code in a script in the Comelec transparency service at the last elections apparently did not affect the election results. JE/rga
