Fire razes 80 houses in Zamboanga City; over 100 families homeless

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Over 100 families were left homeless when around 80 houses were razed in a fire that hit Barangay Upper Calarian here on Sunday night.

Fire Inspector Clint Cha, district fire marshal, said the 9:50 p.m. fire was put out three hours later.

Mayor Maria Isabelle Salazar said the area, covering some four hectares of land, had urban poor residents.

Salazar said the City Social Welfare Office has been taking care of the fire victims.  SFM
