Did You Know: President Carlos P. Garcia
Today, Nov. 4, is the 120th birth anniversary of President Carlos P. Garcia. A poet, high school teacher and a lawyer, he served as vice president and foreign affairs secretary from 1953 to 1957. He became president in March 1957 after the untimely death of President Ramon Magsaysay in a plane crash. Garcia died on June 14, 1971. —MARIELLE MEDINA, INQUIRER RESEARCH
