Ormoc police chief’s brother nabbed in Tacloban drug bust

TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte — The younger brother of the Ormoc City police chief has been arrested during a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Sabang, Tacloban City, Leyte.

Ruel Ramirez and his live-in partner, Noriel Navarro, were detained at the Tacloban City Police Office, pending filing of charges for violation of the Comprehensive Drugs Act of 2002 at the prosecutor’s office.

Ramirez is the younger brother of Senior Supt. Ramil Laroga Ramirez, Ormoc police director, said Chief Insp. Steve Castillote III, chief of Police Station 2 in Tacloban.

Castillote said Ramirez was on the list of top drug personalities in Ormoc.

Ramirez and Navarro were arrested after they handed a pack of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) to an undercover policeman about 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Seized from them were P320,000 worth of shabu.  SFM
