GCG chair becomes first Duterte appointee to quit

The chairman of the Governance Commission for Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GCG) has resigned, Malacañang confirmed on Saturday.

Lawyer Jaime Ma. Flores II, GCG Chairman, resigned from his post on October 24, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said.

“Yes he quit,” he told INQUIRER.net in a text message.

Andanar, however, refused to give details of Flores’ resignation, saying Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea should be the one to answer it.

INQUIRER.net has sought the comment of Medialdea but has not responded as of posting time.

Flores, who took his oath of office before President Rodrigo Duterte on August 1 at Malacañang, is the first Cabinet official to quit from the Duterte administration.

It remains unclear, however, if President Duterte had accepted his resignation. IDL
