Filipinos generally satisfied with key gov’t institutions–poll

Top government institutions enjoyed a high public satisfaction rating in the first quarter of the Duterte administration, results of the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) revealed.

The results of the third quarter SWS survey released on Friday showed that Filipinos were generally satisfied with key government institutions.

The Senate got a “very good” public satisfaction rating at +52 while the House of Representatives obtained a “good” satisfaction rating at +38.

Results from the same survey, earlier released by SWS, showed that Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III enjoyed a “good” net satisfaction rating of +37, with 54 percent satisfied, 26 undecided and 17 dissatisfied.

Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez only got “moderate” +22 public satisfaction rating but his net satisfaction rating is higher than his two predecessors.

Filipinos were also satisfied with the performance of the Supreme Court which got a “good” public satisfaction rating at +40. Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno earlier got a net satisfaction rating of “moderate” at +26.

The Cabinet of President Rodrigo Duterte also enjoyed a “good” public satisfaction rating at +36

SWS considers a rating of +70 and above as “excellent”; +50 to +69, “very good”; +30 to +49, “good”; +10 to +29, “moderate”, +9 to -9, “neutral”; -10 to -29, “poor”; -30 to -49, “bad”; -50 to -69, “very bad”; -70 and below, “execrable.”

SWS said the non-commissioned survey was conducted from September 24-27, 2016, using face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adults (18 years old and above) nationwide. CDG
