ROBBER NABBED
A suspected robber is detained at the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) after he was apprehended minutes after robbing a call center agent at T. Villa Street, Cebu City, yesterday afternoon.
Police investigation said Jodelyn Vizcayno, 21, was on on board a public utility jeepney when Jovelone Felizanta, 23, declared a holdup and took her for cell phone and P2,000 cash at knifepoint.
PO1 Justino Paragado of the CCPO Theft and Robbery section said passengers asked for help when the suspect disembarked the vehicle. Tanods Raul Illustrisimo Sr. and Joselito Dela Vega Villa who were roving the area responded to the alarm and arrested the suspect./CORRESPONDENT EDISON DELOS ANGELES
SWAT DRILL
OPERATIVES of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT)-Lapu-Lapu City showed their readiness and skills during a robbery simulation drill last Wednesday.
SWAT members armed with high-powered guns, bulletproof vest and helmets ended the drill in 10 minutes, killing four bank robbers. The driver of the getaway vehicle was wounded in the shoot-out.
The drill was part of the group’s 7th anniversary.
Senior Supt. Anthony Obenza, chief of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LLCPO), and his predecessor Senior Supt. Mariano Natuel witnessed the drill at the grounds of SWAT office.
City Councilor Teddy Ybañez, who represented city Mayor Paz Radaza, was also present.
Insp. Jacinto Mandal, chief of SWAT, said the team is complete with equipment needed for sea and land operations.
Obenza said SWAT members underwent professional trainings and seminars conducted by Special Action Force (SAF).
