A married man from Kuwait almost received jail time after the family pet exposed his infidelity with the house keeper.

According to a Metro.co report, the man’s wife repeatedly heard flirtatious phrases from their pet parrot, which she hadn’t heard in their household for quite some time.

Her suspicions grew more when the bird allegedly identified their maid by name—which led her to bring their pet to the police and use it as evidence.

Adultery is punishable in the Gulf State, where violators face prison sentence or hard labor.

Unfortunately for the unidentified spouse, authorities claimed that the bird’s “statement” was not admitted by the court as it could not be used to prove his husband’s indiscretions. They also noted that the parrot was not a credible witness and that it could have imitated the conversation from the television or the radio.

Despite the outcome of the events, the wife insisted that her husband was a philanderer due to a “sudden change of his demeanor.” She reportedly suspected it for some time since her husband would often become anxious if she arrived unexpectedly early from work.

The unusual case, meanwhile, was not the first time a talking tropical bird snitched.

A similar incident happened in 2006 when another pet bird revealed a woman’s affair with a work colleague. Her pet reportedly uttered “I love you, Gary” in front of her boyfriend Chris.  Khristian Ibarrola
