OLONGAPO CITY — A village treasurer on her way to work was shot dead on Tuesday (Oct. 25) morning by an unidentified assailant in Iba, Zambales.

Liza Ednalan, 46, barangay (village) treasurer of Sto. Rosario, was walking along the roadside in Barangay Darita, when the lone gunman fired at her at about 9 a.m., said PO3 Gerson Sotelo, investigator at Iba police station

The victim sustained two gunshot wounds to the head, police said.

Citing witnesses’ accounts, police said the gunman was seen waiting at a street corner before attacking Ednalan.

The killer fled on foot. The police recovered two spent shells fired from a .45-pistol.

Police said they were establishing the motive behind the killing.  SFM
