Authorities foil bomb threat near Agus 1 hydro plant
MARAWI CITY—Authorities on Saturday said they had foiled an attempt to topple down a power pylon near the National Power Corp.’s Agus 1 hydroelectric power plant in Barangay Amay Pakpak here.
The bomb, fashioned out of an 81-mm mortar shell and fitted with a remote detonator, was disabled by bomb experts, according to Senior Insp. Epream Paguyod, chief of the local team from the Regional Police Safety Battalion of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
Paguyod said the bomb—placed inside a black bag—was tucked under the steel tower of the local electric utility.
