Couple linked to Kerwin nabbed

CEBU CITY—A couple with alleged links to suspected drug lord Rolando “Kerwin” Espinosa Jr. was arrested by police in Barangay Labangon, Cebu City past 10 p.m. on Wednesday for possession of at least P5.9 million worth of “shabu.”

Jesryl Bacalla and his wife, Jean, were detained at the Cebu City police office stockade to face charges of violating Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

Jesryl, 43, was caught while trying to sell a pack of shabu to an undercover policeman in the couple’s apartment.

Police found a bag with an estimated 500 grams of shabu inside the couple’s room.

Jean, 46, and a village councilor in Baybay City, Leyte province, was also arrested.

Police also seized a mobile phone from the couple.
