Traffic rerouting scheme for All Saints’, Souls’ Day in Quezon City released

MANILA, Philippines—The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) released Tuesday the traffic rerouting scheme around cemeteries in Quezon City that will be effected on All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day on November 1 and 2.

Police Superintendent Arnold Casingal Santiago of the QCPD traffic enforcement unit presented the traffic rerouting scheme in a press briefing in Camp Karinagal, Quezon City.

Police estimated that a total of 217,000 people would flock to cemeteries in Quezon City.

For the Manila North Cemetery, A. Bonifacio Avenue will be closed to all vehicles. There will be designated parking areas around the vicinity of the cemetery.

Trucks and buses from the Balintawak area going to Manila will have to turn left at Sergeant Rivera Street, turn right at D. Tuazon Street, then turn right to Calamba Street.

Meanwhile, private vehicles, public utility jeepneys (PUJs) and taxi cabs coming from Balintawak will have to pass through Mayon street (which will be a one-way street from Del Monte Avenue up to Scout Alcantara Street) turn right at Retiro street, turn left at Doctor Alejos Street, then turn right on Don Manuel Agregado Street to get to Blumentritt Avenue.

Trucks and buses from Manila going to Balintawak will have to pass through Maria Clara Street, turn left at Banawe avenue, left at Sgt, Rivera Street, then right on A. Bonifacio Road. Private vehicles, PUJs and taxi cabs going the same way will have to pass through Retiro Street (which will be a one-way street from Blumentritt extension to Mariveles street), then through CDC street (formerly Tacio street), turn left at Angelo street, turn right at Sgt. Alcaraz, turn left on Speaker Perez street and then turn left at Del Monte Avenue toward A. Bonifacio Road.

For the Novaliches cemetery, General Luis Street will be one-way from Quirino Highway going to Millionaires Village. Vehicles are not allowed inside the cemetery and the stretch of Gen. Luis Street will be a no-parking zone. Vehicles may exit through Dona Isaura Street, which will also be a one-way street, to get back to Quirino Highway.

The Parokya ng Pagkabuhay Cemetery in Bagbag, Quezon , will not allow vehicles to enter the cemetery. Vehicles may enter through Kingspoint Street and park along Alexis Street. The stretch of Quirino Higway fronting the cemetery will be a no-parking zone.

Eternal Gardens Memorial park will allow vehicles to enter the cemetery through Leyland Drive from Quirino Highway. Vehicles will exit on Maximina Drive back to Quirino Highway. The entire stretch of Quirino Highway in the vicinity of the cemetery will be a no-parking zone.

Entry into the Holy Cross Memorial Park in San Bartolome, Novaliches, from Quirino Highway will be at the back of Green Heights Subdivision. Vehicles may exit back to Quirino Highway through P. de la Cruz Street.

Vehicles entering Himlayang Pilipino Memorial Park near Tandang Sora Avenue will take Himlayan Avenue. Exit route can either be through Saint Anthony School Road that leads to the National Power Corp. (Napocor) Village or through the Philand Drive Subdivision.
