Nearly all cyclone signals were lifted as Typhoon Lawin (international name Haima) neared its way out of the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Thursday afternoon.
Signal No. 1 was hoisted over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Abra, weather bureau PAGASA said.
Lawin packed maximum sustained winds of up to 130 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 160 kph.
As of 4 p.m., the typhoon was located 240 kilometers west northwest of Laoag City, moving northwest at 22 kph.
Pagasa said Lawin was “not a threat anymore and is about to exit the PAR.”
Sea travel is risky over at the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon and at the western seaboard of Central Luzon. JE/rga
