Duterte inks law postponing barangay, SK polls

President Rodrigo Duterte has signed the law postponing the October 31 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls this year, a Palace official said on Tuesday.

Quoting Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, assistant secretary Marie Banaag of the Presidential Communications Office made the announcement at a press briefing in Malacañang.

The presidential palace, however, is still waiting for an official copy. Duterte is set to proceed to China from Brunei Darussalam for a state visit.

Duterte earlier expressed his support for the postponement of the barangay and SK polls, saying that the election might be infiltrated with drug money if they pushed through. CDG/rga
