On Aug. 17, Philippine National Police Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa warned police chiefs in Western Visayas, Bicol and the National Capital Region that they face ouster from their posts if their performance in the campaign against illegal drugs does not improve. He gave the three regions a grade of “barely passing” in the PNP’s “Oplan Double Barrel” campaign against drugs.

From Sept. 9 to 13, 62 police officers in Western Visayas were reshuffled because their respective police stations failed to meet the minimum of three drug-related arrests per day for two months, July 1 to Aug. 31. —COMPILED BY ALMI ILAGAN-ATIENZA, INQUIRER RESEARCH; SOURCE: INQUIRER ARCHIVES
