President Rodrigo Duterte was just joking when he said Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos donated money to his presidential bid.

“Walang katotohanan ‘yan. Palabiro lang ang Presidente Duterte (There’s no truth to that. President Duterte just likes to make jokes),” Marcos told reporters on Monday. She was at the Supreme Court along with around 200 supporters to hold a vigil until Tuesday when the high court is expected to decide on whether her father, the late President Ferdinand Marcos, can be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (LMB).

Marcos’ eldest daughter led their supporters in the “Kailian March” that started from Ilocos Norte last Friday. They passed through Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Pampanga and Bulacan where they gathered more supporters along the way.

Duterte wants the former leader be buried at the LMB because he is a soldier.

The governor said she is hoping that the Supreme Court would rule in their favor and allow the burial at LMB.

She, however, admitted that she is nervous on how the high court would rule.

“Hindi ako confident…syempre nakakanerbyos. Wala tayong magagawa dasal lamang po (I’m not confident…I’m nervous. There is nothing we can do but to pray),” she said.

The status quo ante (SQA) issued by the high court against the preparations for the Marcos burial at LMB will lapse on Tuesday. It has been included in Tuesday’s en banc (full court session) for deliberation.

The first SQA was issued last Aug. 23 effective for 20 days or until Sept. 12. Then, at the conclusion of the oral arguments last Sept. 7, the high court extended the SQA to Oct. 18.
