A Brazilian national, carrying over 5 kilograms of high-grade cocaine, was intercepted Saturday afternoon by teams of the antidrug trafficking task force at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia).
Yasmin Silva, who came from Sao Paulo, had just gotten off an Emirates flight at around 5:30 p.m. Saturday and claimed her baggage from the Naia 3 carousel when she was accosted by members of the Naia interagency drug interdiction task group (IADITG).
Customs officers directed her to open her check-in baggage, which yielded some 5.2 kilograms of cocaine.
The narcotics were turned over by the Naia-IADITG to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, which had also taken custody of Silva for further investigation.
