PAL cancels 50 flights due to Typhoon ‘Karen’

Philippine Airlines (PAL) has cancelled 50 international and domestic flights scheduled on Sunday due to Typhoon “Karen” (international name Sarika).

According to PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna, the decision to ground the flights is to ensure the safety of the passengers.

Among cancelled international flights are: PR 422 and PR 421 Manila-Haneda-Manila; PR 730 and PR 731 Manila-Bangkok-Manila; PR 300 and PR 301  Manila-Hong Kong-Manila; PR 428 and PR 427 Manila-Narita-Manila; PR 318 and PR 319 Manila-Hong Kong-Manila; PR 511 and PR 512 Manila Singapore-Manila; PR 507 and PR 508 Manila-Singapore-Manila; PR 1815 and PR 1816 Manila-Singapore-Manila; PR 466 and PR 467 Manila-Incheon-Manila; PR 720 and PR 721 Manila-London-Manila; PR 382 and PR 383 Manila-Canton-Manila; PR 358 and PR 359 Manila-Peking-Manila; as well as PR 215 and PR 216 Manila-Port Moresby-Manila.

Also grounded are flights: PR 469 and PR 306 Incheon to Manila; PR 111 Guam to Manila; PR 897 Taipei to Manila; PR 510 Singapore to Manila; PR 737 Bangkok to Manila; PR 311 Hong Kong to Manila; PR 222 Darwin to Manila; and PR 419 Pusan to Manila.

PR 896 Manila-Taipei-Kansai was likewise cancelled as well as its return flight on Monday PR 897 Kansai-Taipei-Manila.

Cancelled PAL domestic flights include: PR 1808 and PR 1820 Davao to Manila; PR 1866 Cebu to Manila; PR 453 and PR 454 Manila-General Santos-Manila; PR 1853 and PR 1854 Manila-Cebu-Manila; PR 1811 and PR 1812 Manila-Davao-Manila; PR 1813 and PR 1814 Manila-Davao-Manila; as well as PR 1809 and PR 1810 Manila-Davao-Manila.

The PAL spokesperson assured that affected passengers may rebook within 30 days of their original date of departure without penalties.

Villaluna said PAL also revised the arrival schedules of eight international flights for Sunday.  She said passengers who would miss their connecting flights due to the adjusted schedules may rebook without charges.

Manila-bound flights with revised arrival schedules include: PR 105 from San Francisco; PR 103 and PR 113 from Los Angeles; PR 119 from Vancouver; PR 669 from Dubai; PR 683 from Dammam; PR 657 from Abu Dhabi; and PR 655 from Riyadh.
