Police discovered and seized a cache of illegal firearms, ammunition and improvised bombs in a residential compound in Valenzuela City early Wednesday.
The search conducted by the combined forces of the Philippine National Police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP CIDG) and the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) in the compound along R. Valenzuela St. in Barangay (village) Marulas also led to the arrest of two individuals.
The operatives raided the compound around 5 a.m. Wednesday and discovered six shotguns, five .38 caliber revolvers, a .357 caliber magnum, a .9mm caliber and assorted ammunition.
Six bottles of improvised Molotov bombs were also found inside the compound.
Chief Insp. Roque Merdegia of the CIDG Anti-Transnational Crimes Unit (ATCU) said they arrested Jefferson “Dodong” and Ben Ledesma in the raid and invited 19 individuals who introduced themselves as security guards of the said compound who were brought to the ATCU office at Camp Crame for questioning.
Cases for violations of Republic Act no. 10591 or the “Comprehensive firearms and ammunition regulation act) and RA no. 9516 or the “Illegal possession of explosives” are being readied for filing against the arrested individuals.
