Mayor Espinosa pleads not guilty to gun charges

BAYBAY CITY, Philippines — Beleagured Albuera, Leyte, Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr., pleaded not guilty Wednesday morning to charges of illegal possession of firearms filed against him and his son, Roland Kerwin Espinosa Jr.

The charges were filed before the sala of Regional Trial Court Branch 14 of Executive Judge Carlos Arguelles.

His arraignment for illegal possession of illegal drugs was moved to Oct 19.

The guns and drugs were reportedly seized during anti-drug operations at the house of Kerwin on July 28 and in subsequent searches at the mayor’s house on August 3.
