IN THE KNOW: Melon-headed whales

The melon-headed whale (Peponocephala electra) is a small member of the dolphin group, reaching a length of 9 feet and weight of 210 kilograms.

Its body is dark gray with a darker cape that dips low below the dorsal fin, and sometimes a pale patch on the belly. They have a small head with a rounded melon and no discernible beak.
