Cop proposes marriage to Duterte’s aide-de-camp after President’s speech

(UPDATE) It’s like the final scene straight from a romance film.

If President Rodrigo Duterte vows to bring lasting peace to Filipinos, a policeman on Thursday promised “forever” to the President’s aide-de-camp through a marriage proposal.

After Duterte delivered his usual expletive-laced speech before policemen in Camp Rafael Rodriguez in Butuan City, Police Senior Inspector Arvin Jusmillo asked for a few minutes from the President to propose to his girlfriend, Police Senior Inspector Romea Alnieza Kinang.

Kinang was on the stage with Duterte when Jusmillo began saying his proposal.

“My beloved President, Sir. Humihiling po ako ng tatlong minute lang po sa ngalan ng pag-ibig, Sir. I would like to take this, I would like to grab this very rare opportunity and perfect timing, Sir,” Jusmillo said.

“Lingid sa kaalaman ng nakararami, Sir. ‘Yung aide de camp nyo, Sir. Si police senior inspector Romea Alnieza Kinang, Sir, she is my girlfriend for five years and 10 months already, Sir,” he added.

Jusmillo, who was holding a bouquet of flowers, shared their love story.

He said he and Kinang were supposed to tie the knot this October but they broke-up after a quarrel.

“Ganun pa man sir, I’m thankful na talagang everything happens for a reason. Had it happen na kinasal tayo, hindi mangyayari ito na makapag-propose ako sa ‘yo before the President of the Republic and viewing public throughout the world,” he said while the audience cheered for him.

Jusmillo said it was a rare opportunity for the President to witness the event so he gathered all the courage to do the proposal.

“Kaya hinugot ko ang lakas ng loob sa katawan ko para gawin ito. Sa ngalan ng pag- ibig, sir,” he said.

He then shared his message to Kinang.

“Romea Alnieza Kinang, when you left me, I realized na for the past five years and 10 months na we’ve been together, na-realize ko na marami akong pagkukulang as your boyfriend. But don’t you worry, pakasalan mo lang ako, I still have forever para bumawi as your husband,” he said.

Jusmillo then went up onstage and handed Kinang the bouquet of roses. He gave her an engagement ring and kissed her on the cheek while Jason Mraz’ song “I Won’t Give Up” was playing.

Duterte was seen clapping. After the cheering and applause, Jusmillo and Kinang took a photo with the President. TVJ
