A supposedly mentally ill young man sneaked through Palace security and entered  the Malacañang grounds on Thursday afternoon.

The 16-year-old youth, only identified as “Carurucan,” jumped over the fence of gate 1 in Malacañang and walked straight to the New Executive Building (NEB) at around 1:25 p.m.

The NEB houses the offices of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) and the Malacañang Press Corps (MPC).

Upon entering the NEB lobby, security guards and members of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) blocked Carurucan.

Carururcan, wearing a t-shirt, jeans and slippers, said he wanted to talk to President Rodrigo Duterte.

“May sasabihin lang po ako (I just have something to say),” he said when asked what he wanted to say to the President.

Members of the PSG called the police who then escorted Carurucan out of the Palace grounds.

In 2014, an armed woman who was looking for President Benigno Aquino III was arrested after she tried to get past Malacañang security.

The woman, who was armed with a fully loaded calibre .45 gun, shouted that Aquino must be ousted because he was not responsive to the needs of the poor, especially the scavengers. JE/rga
