After battling lung cancer, there will be no more pain for the well-loved former Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago, her daughter-in-law said on Thursday.

Mechel Santiago took to Facebook to share a touching tribute to the late senator, whom she thanked for loving her family and the country.

“Mahal na mahal ka namin, Ma. Hindi na po kayo mahihirapan ngayon. Kasama n’yo na po ang ating Panginoon. Maraming salamat sa inyong pagmamahal sa amin, sa inyong pamilya at sa ating bayan (We love you so much, Ma. You will no longer suffer now. You are with the Lord now. Thank you for loving us, your family and our country),” she wrote.
