The presiding judge of Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur, is in critical condition after he was shot in the head by four armed men on Friday morning.

The victim was identified as Hector D. Salise, presiding judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 7, Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur. His driver, Police Officer 3 Edmund D. Narvasa, who was shot on his back, leg and waist, is now in stable condition.

The incident occurred around 7 a.m. along Purok 3, Barangay Lemon, Butuan City, while he was on board a red Toyota Innova. A silver Montero Sport vehicle blocked their way and four armed men came out and fired at them.

Based on the police’s spot report, Narvasa was able to maneuver back to Butuan City proper and proceeded to a Community Police Assistance Center along Barangay Villa Kananga. They were immediately taken to a hospital.

The authorities recovered 15 fire cartridge cases from an M16 rifle and two cartridge cases of a .45-caliber.

The Supreme Court has yet to issue a statement on the matter./rga
