14 Customs men under suspension
The Bureau of Customs has placed under preventive suspension 14 employees allegedly involved in the undervaluation of 469 fire trucks purchased by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon said the employees, mostly assessors and examiners, will also be facing administrative investigation and a separate probe by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
In a press briefing on Thursday, Faeldon said the 14 BOC personnel were identified through the declaration submitted to his office.
“They will be subjected to our administrative investigation. They will now be on preventive suspension, and we have transmitted this case to the DOJ for the filing of criminal cases against those who will be found liable in this transaction,” he said. Julie M. Aurelio
