Mt. Bulusan in Sorsogon spews 1.5-km ash

LEGAZPI CITY—Mt. Bulusan in Sorsogon province spewed 1.5 kilometers of ash at around 4:54 p.m. on Friday.

Raden Dimaano of Sorsogon Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said the explosion was “phreatic” which produced a grayish ash plume. The ash plume drifted to the northeast side of the volcano.

Dimaano said minimal ash fall had affected parts of towns of Casiguran, Juban, Bulusan and Barcelona./rga
