Cops nab suspect in slays of Pampanga teacher, 10-year-old son
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—The Pampanga police on Thursday arrested the suspect in the Sept. 13 killing of a teacher and her 10-year-son in Lubao town.
Ronnel Canilao, 21, was cornered in a motel in Barangay Sto. Tomas in Lubao and admitted raping the 41-year-old teacher before stabbing her multiple times.
Investigators said the teacher’s son was found dead beside his mother in a bedroom. The boy’s throat was slit open.
Canilao claimed he was drunk at the time of the murders. He had access to their home because he was a friend of one of the victims’ relatives.
Chief Insp. Michael Masangkay, Lubao police chief, said a knife that was used in the killing had been recovered.
Canilao will be charged with double murder and rape./rga
