The Liberal Party (LP) has no plans to oust President Rodrigo Duterte, Senate President Pro Tempore Franklin Drilon said on Tuesday.

Drilon noted that even the President did not directly identify who were the “yellow” forces that he said were allegedly behind  ouster moves against him by supposedly highlighting the human rights violations under the present administration.

“Hindi po sinabi ng Pangulo kung sino yung mga yellow (The President did not identify who were the “yellow” forces). But on the part of the Liberal Party, wala po kaming binabalak na ganon (we have no such plans),” said Drilon, vice chair of LP.

“We have not met on this and we deny that we are part of such plot if indeed such plot exists. The Liberal Party has nothing to do with it,” the senator added.

Duterte was earlier quoted as saying that the “yellow” forces were trying to build a case against him.

“Let’s not fool ourselves. Do you know who’s behind this? It’s the yellow,” the President said.

“They think that if they can build a case against me, I’ll be impeached,” he said. “My God! I tell you frankly, when I assumed office, in this quest of mine, I have prepared to lose my honor, my life and the presidency.” RAM/rga
