6 high-powered guns, ammo seized from Kalinga village officials
CAUAYAN CITY, Philippines — Police seized six high-powered guns, a grenade and assorted ammunition from the houses of a village chair and his secretary in Kalinga’s Tabuk City on Saturday (Sept. 10)
Bulanao Norte village chair Virgilio Gunnawa and barangay secretary Reynold Flores were not at home when the Cordillera police raided the houses, carrying a search warrant from the Regional Trial Court Branch 53 in Manila.
Gunnawa was allegedly storing at his house an M-6 Armalite rifle, an M-16 Baby Armalite rifle, a Carbine rifle, a cal. 45 pistol, a cal. 38 revolver, and a hand grenade.
Flores’ home yielded an M-16 Armalite rifle and a magazine for a cal. 22 handgun.
Police have implicated the two men in gun-for-hire activities and illegal gambling operations in Tabuk./rga
