President Rodrigo Duterte revealed on Saturday that he was emotional when he learned that her daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio lost her identical twins.

“Well, somebody called me, I went to the bathroom and  nasa labas kami, nasa lobby kami (we were at the lobby). I cried, I cried,” Duterte told reporters at the Davao International Airport after his arrival from Indonesia.

On Thursday, Sara said she had lost two of the triplets she was carrying.

“When I went for a checkup last Monday, the doctor said the identical twins didn’t have heartbeats anymore,” the mayor has said.

The mayor had the checkup shortly after her visit to the wake of Kristia Bisnon on Monday, her private nurse when she was hospitalized in July.

Sara was advised by her doctors to be more cautious and take some rest.

In July, the younger Duterte took a three-week leave of absence. Shortly after she returned to work, the City Information Office announced that she was pregnant with triplets. CDG
