Robredo condemns Davao blast: It’s a ‘senseless, criminal act’

Vice President Ma. Leonor “Leni” Robredo on Saturday deplored the “senseless and criminal act” that killed at least 14 individual in a blast in Davao City on Friday night.

“We condemn this senseless and criminal act. In this difficult time, we must not allow violence and fear to divide our nation. Rather, let us all come together in fighting against the scourge of terrorism,” Robredo said.

The country’s second in command also called for calm amid reports that the terror Abu Sayyaf Group was responsible for the deadly explosion.

“We call on calm and collective action in bringing about justice, peace and order to our country,” she added.

The Vice President offered her prayers for the victims of the deadly blast.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who lost their lives or were injured in last night’s attack in Davao,” she said.

On Friday night, at least, 14 people were killed and 67 wounded after an explosion rocked the crowded night market on Roxas Boulevard in Davao City.
