AFP: Texts of suicide bombings in Manila malls a hoax

/ 11:09 PM August 24, 2016

Circulating text messages claiming that four women from Basilan will carry out suicide bombings in malls in Metro Manila were dismissed by the military as hoax.

“Wala kaming nare-receive pang any particular information tungkol dyan,” Armed Forces of the Philippines public affairs office chief Col. Edgard Arevalo said in a press briefing at Camp Aguinaldo on Wednesday.

“We would like to appeal to our people not to be part of circulating text messages like that because it unduly alarms or people. It does not do us any good. Dapat maging circumspect tayo, especially kung may ma-receive tayong ganyan na text messages,” he added.

While they have not received a similar information, Arevalo said they will take note of the report.
