Poe visits Parañaque bus terminal to ‘witness plight of commuters’

Senator Grace Poe has conducted a surprise visit at the Southwest Integrated Transport Terminal in Parañaque City “to witness firsthand the plight of commuters.”

Poe inspected the terminal Tuesday or two days before the scheduled resumption of the hearing of the Senate committee on public services, which she chairs.

The committee is set to resume on Thursday its hearing on several measures, seeking to grant President Rodrigo Duterte emergency powers to address the traffic problem in the country.

“She inspected the terminal’s facilities and conversed with passengers to gain perspective of the situation in view of the upcoming hearings of the Senate committee on public services on the need for emergency powers to address the country’s traffic woes,” said the caption of the photos.

The establishment of interim bus terminals was in accordance with Administrative Order No. 40 issued in 2013 during the time of former President Benigno Aquino III meant to ease traffic on major roads, particularly Edsa, by limiting the entry of provincial buses in Metro Manila. CDG
