Sara Duterte’s pregnancy an inspiration for President—Palace

Malacañang on Friday said President Rodrigo Duterte has expressed happiness over news that his daughter will soon have triplets.

“The Palace is pleased to announce that Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio is seven weeks pregnant and is expecting triplets,” Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said in a statement.

“The President is delighted with the news of his daughter’s pregnancy. He is also hopeful that she will able to see through the pregnancy smoothly and well,” he said.

Andanar added, “Mayor Sara’s pregnancy serves as a source of inspiration for the Chief Executive to roll up his sleeves and work double time in his fight against crimes and drugs.”

He said Duterte hopes to leave a legacy of a Philippines that is safe from crimes and drugs to the future generation of Filipinos.

“We offer our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the Mayor and husband, lawyer Manases Carpio,” Andanar said.

Duterte-Carpio, in a statement, said her pregnancy is “delicate” but she will continue to work as city mayor./rga
