Batangas cop shot dead in jeepney; student wounded

BATANGAS CITY – A policeman on board a passenger jeepney was shot and killed by two men in Barangay (village) Kumintang Ibaba here on Thursday, police said.

Supt. Barnard Danie Dasugo, Batangas City police chief, said the victim, PO3 Nestor Dimaano, was assigned at the city police station but had been suspended for an administrative case.

Dasugo said Dimaano was listed in the local police’s drug watch list.

Dimaano was attacked when the jeepney he was riding  reached Gov. Carpio Road at 11:30 a.m. His fellow passenger, a student who had yet to be identified, was hit by a stray bullet but was declared by doctors to be in stable condition as of Thursday afternoon.
