Cop stationed in Aguinaldo Shrine in Cavite shot dead

SAN PEDRO CITY — A policeman was shot and killed by two men while he was on duty at a park fronting the Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit town in Cavite province on Monday, police said.

Supt. Chitadel Gaoiran, information officer of the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) police, said PO2 Rogelio Francisco was preparing to start his shift when gunmen attacked him at 8:30 a.m.

Chief Insp. Resty Soriano, Kawit police chief, said Francisco was assigned at the Tourist Police Unit of the town police manning the Freedom Park in front of the Aguinaldo Shrine.

Soriano said killers, who were aboard a motorcycle, could have tailed Francisco from Cavite City.

The gunmen, police said, fled toward Noveleta town.
