COTABATO CITY – Two unidentified men riding on a motorbike gunned down the head of the Cotabato City anti-drug task force in Tacurong City on Saturday night, police said.

Senior Supt. Rannie Hachuela, Tacurong City police director, said Senior Inspector Orlando Ramos Guira, 46, head of the Cotabato City PNP Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force, died before reaching the hospital in Tacurong City.

Guira was to fetch his wife, Jean, a physician, from Isulan town but she decided to take a tricycle in going home to Tacurong City because she was not feeling well. On board his motorbike, Guira decided to tail the tricycle along the Isulan-Tacurong national highway.

Two men riding on separate motorbikes shot him several times in Barangay ECJ Montilla at past 8:30 p.m., according to Hachuela. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds from a cal. 45 pistol.

Jean and the tricycle driver rushed him to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Hachuela said investigation was still going on Sunday. He could not say whether or not the shooting was related to Guira’s work as an anti-illegal drug officer.  SFM/rga
