A Malacañang official has said that the decreasing crime rate registered from July 2015 to July 2016 is proof that the administration’s war against illegal drugs and criminality has been effective.
Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, citing a report from Philippine National Police (PNP) public information office OIC Sr. Supt Dionardo Carlos, said Sunday that crime incidence posted in July 2016 was 50,817, compared to July 2015’s 56,339.
There was also a 31-percent decrease in index crimes in July 2016 at 11,800, compared to 17,105 in July 2015.
Andanar said that this is proof that “change has come.”
“Patunay ito na ang matapang na solusyon at mabilis na aksyon kung saan nakilala ang ating Pangulo ay ‘di lamang slogan nung panahon ng kampanya. Ito ay isang pagbabagong nararamdaman ng Pilipino saan man silang sulok ng bansa hanggang sa pinakaliblib na barangay kung saan may droga at krimen,” Andanar said in a statement.

There was also a slip in crimes against property in July 2016 at 4,476 incidents compared to 11,106 crimes against property in July 2015.
Crimes against persons were also lessened by 829 incidents.
The report said that the top three most prevalent crimes in July 2016 were theft, physical injury, and robbery. JE/rga
