TUGUEGARAO CITY—A 78-year-old man killed his son with a hammer on Thursday evening in Cagayan’s Lasam town, police said.
Virgilio Aguinaldo said he defended himself when his 48-year-old son, Peter, tried to attack him with a bladed weapon when he returned home from their rice fields.
Aguinaldo said Peter’s attack was unprovoked, prompting him to grab a hammer and strike his son on the head. Peter died instantly.
Aguinaldo surrendered to the police.
