LEGAZPI CITY – At least 19 people were injured after a bus fell into a 20-meter deep ravine in Basud, Camarines Norte on Sunday afternoon.

Senior Inspector Maria Louisa Calubaquib, information officer of Bicol police, said initial investigation showed that a Win Express Bus traveling from Naga City to Daet town with about 30 to 40 passengers fell into a ravine at Sitio Makabubos in Barangay (village) Tuaca at 2:15 p.m.

Bus driver Ramon Sarsa Bercasio, a resident of Barangay Gahonon in Daet town, was negotiating a curve when he lost control of the steering wheel,  causing the vehicle to swerve to the opposite lane of the road and fall into the ravine, Calubaquib said.

Sarsa was among the injured who were brought to Camarines Norte Provincial Hospital in Daet for treatment.
