ILOILO CITY, Philippines — Flanked by executive assistants and allies, Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog faced reporters on Sunday denying President Duterte’s allegation that he is involved in illegal drugs.

“It is very unfortunate and disconcerting that my name is linked and included on the list (of the President),” Mabilog said during a press conference at the Iloilo City Hall.

The mayor was among the chief executives, policemen, judges and other individuals named by the President as involved in illegal drugs.

Mabilog, who is serving his third and last term, sought a speedy investigation so that his name will be cleared.

“I can categorically say that I am not involved in the protection, trade and use of illegal drugs,” Mabilog said.

The mayor left after reading his statement and only his spokesperson, lawyer Mark Piad, answered questions from the reporters./rga
