P742-M upgrade for 3 government hospitals
Three government specialty hospitals will be upgraded to ensure their efficient delivery of services to the poor, courtesy of funds coming from the P72–billion stimulus package.
A total of P742 million will be allocated to upgrade the medical services and facilities of the Philippine Heart Center (PHC), Lung Center of the Philippines (LCP) and the Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC), Budget Secretary Florencio Abad said in a statement Thursday.
The biggest chunk of the P742 million will be the P357 million to be spent for the upgrade of the “aging infrastructure and medical equipment” of the PHC.
The PCMC will get P280 million for the capital and equipment renovation project that will make more accessible state-of-the-art treatment to poor children.
On the other hand, P105 million will go to the LCP to support two important programs: the Bio-Regenerative Program which seeks to harness stem cell research and technology to treat cancer patients and the Pediatric Pulmonary Programs for children aged three months to 18 years of age who have lung diseases.
