2 Koreans charged with murder
TWO KOREANS were charged with murder for the death of a casino financier, a fellow Korean whose case they had reported as a suicide, after an investigation showed that the victim owed P25 million to one of the suspects.
The police filed the complaint in the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office last week against Jeon Eung-shik, 45, a businessman residing in Parañaque City and Song Yongjae, 47, an electronic engineer staying in Pasay City.
The two suspects were with Shin Ju-young, 37, when the latter supposedly shot himself in the head on July 1 at the Asiatel Econo Hotel in Pasay City.
Shin Sungchol, the victim’s uncle and complainant in the case, told the police that Shin’s death was suspicious because in Korean culture, they don’t commit suicide in front of other Koreans.
All three tested negative for gunpowder, according to SPO4 Allan Valdez of Pasay City police.
The suspects however, failed lie detector tests, leading to the complaint against them, especially after probers discovered that the victim owed P25 million to Jeon. Erika Sauler
