KORONADAL CITY—Local officials have forcibly evacuated 134 families after a sinkhole, measuring 50 meters wide and 40 meters deep, was discovered in their village in Polomolok, South Cotabato province.

Similar sinkholes have been reported in the town in the past, but the one in Barangay Silway “is the biggest so far,” said Jonathan Fabulare, municipal disaster risk reduction officer.

The families have taken shelter at Silway 8 Elementary School.

The municipal environment and natural resources office has sent a team to the area to investigate. Edwin O. Fernandez, Inquirer Mindanao
