Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald “Bato” de la Rosa will teach Vhon Martin Tanto, the man who shot dead a biker after losing in a fistfight, how to throw a punch properly when the toughie police official sees the killing suspect on Saturday.
De la Rosa on Friday said he would give Tanto, who was arrested in Masbate before noon Friday, a “villain’s welcome” when the former Army reservist arrives at the Manila Police District early Saturday.
“Yung villain’s welcome—nakakamatay na mura, nakakamatay na tingin. Matunaw na lang siya sa kinauupuan niya,” the tough-talking police chief said at a press briefing in Camp Crame.
Tanto shot to death Mark Vincent Garalde after the two exchanged blows on P. Casal Street in Quiapo, Manila, last Monday. An 18-year-old girl is now in critical condition when she got hit by a stray bullet near the scene.
“Si Tanto? Tuturuan ko siya mag-boxing dahil mahina siya sa suntukan. Kaya bumunot siya ng baril dahil napahiya siya. Nabugbog siya. Pa-siga siga siya. Turuan ko ‘yan bukas ng tamang suntok,” he added.
Joint police and military operatives arrested Tanto in his home in Barangay Poblacion East in Milagros, Masbate.
National Capital Region Police Office chief Senior Supt. Oscar Albayalde said Tanto and his police escorts were on their way to the Manila Police District. He will be presented to the media 7 a.m. on Saturday.
Albayalde said the Manila Police would file murder and frustrated murder charges against Tanto.
