Remittance center robbed

Three armed men robbed a remittance and package delivery center on F. B. Harrison Road in Libertad, Pasay City, at around 10 a.m. on Thursday. LBC employees Harold Marimat and Irish Tolentino said that the three casually entered the establishment and ordered them and two customers to lie on the floor at gunpoint. The robbers then took the center’s earnings of P4,700 and the cell phones of some of their victims.  Penelope P. Endozo

Con artist arrested in mall

A 27-YEAR-OLD woman who was reportedly able to withdraw close to P2 million from the ATM cards of several people was arrested at Gateway Mall in Cubao, Quezon City, on Wednesday evening. Supt. Ramon Pranada of the Cubao Police Station 7 said that one of Joan Miquibes-Encabo’s victims told them that Encabo’s modus operandi was to accuse people withdrawing money of taking some of her money which she had accidentally left at the ATM machine. Encabo would then order them to check their balance, all the while memorizing the PIN. The suspect would then switch the victim’s ATM card with another card, something that they would discover only when they make another withdrawal. Nancy C. Carvajal
