MANILA — Three drug suspects, including a police officer, were killed in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Katuparan, Taguig City, on Thursday.

The anti-narcotics units of the Southern Police District and Taguig City police held the joint operation at No. 59 7th St. GHQ Village in Barangay Katuparan around 2:20 a.m.

The SPD identified the fatalities as PO3 Leonilo Quiambao, 37, from Zamboanga City and residing in Barangay Katuparan; Bryan Oliveros, 40, resident of GHQ Village; and Edwin Reyes, 46, resident of Nueva Ecija.

Quiambao was detailed in the Regional Police Holding and Accounting Unit of the National Capital Region Police Office.

Police said the suspects fired at the team after they realized that they were dealing with policemen. The operatives sought cover and returned fire, resulting in the deaths of the three suspects from multiple gunshot wounds.

One of the operatives, PO2 Alvin Taduyo of the SPD District Anti-Illegal Drugs, was hit on the left foot. He was brought to the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital for treatment and later transferred to St. Luke’s Medical Center.  SFM
