TODAY, July 27, is the founding anniversary of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). On July 27, 1981, the Ministry of Trade and Industry was created by virtue of Executive Order No. 709 which took over the abolished Departments of Trade and of Industry. On Feb. 27, 1987, EO 133 reorganized the Ministry and gave it its current name. In 2006, then Trade Secretary Peter Favila issued a department order officially declaring July 27 as DTI’s anniversary.
